Lexington VBS

In this VBS, kids will learn five promises Christ gives to his followers. They will hear of who Jesus is, and what He’s done. And all this combined with skits, music, games, snacks, crafts, and more. It’s sure to be one of your child’s favorite memories from this summer!

This VBS is from July 16-20, starting each night at 6 pm and finishing at 8:30. It is located at Ashland Avenue Baptist Church, 483 W. Reynolds Road in Lexington.

The VBS is completely free. Last year we had approximately 400 children who participated! You’re kids will not want to miss this exciting week of fun!

VBS Registration is now Open!

Vacation Bible School is coming and registration is now open! This year’s theme is “Adventures on Promise Island” and will center on five promises that Jesus made to his followers. Your kids will not want to miss this exciting week of fun, games, skits, songs and learning about Jesus.

VBS at the Ashland Mission of Madison County will be from July 8th-13th and at the Lexington campus from July 16th-20th. Click below to register for Vacation Bible School. Online registration will close on July 6th for the Madison County VBS and July 10th for the Lexington VBS. Walk-up registration will be available at both locations once VBS begins, however, we really encourage you to pre-register your children online so that we can adequately prepare for all the children.

An MLB Opening Day Confession

Today is Opening Day of Major League Baseball and Pastor David has a confession to make:

I have a Major League Baseball opening day confession to make. When I attend a baseball game I feel kind of like I do when I go to church. My children stay home from school on Opening Day because I have declared the day a cherished family holiday. I love baseball. It has been the background music of my life and I have only turned up the volume with age.

I remember the first time my family headed east on I-85 from Montgomery to Atlanta to watch our beloved Atlanta Braves at old Fulton County Stadium. Today, I am glad that old, stadium-style facility was put out of its misery in favor of an actual ballpark. But as a boy, turning off of the concourse toward the field and seeing that perfectly manicured diamond for the first time was one of the most breathtaking sights I had ever laid eyes on.

He continues:

But as much as I appreciate the inherent beauty of an empty ballpark and its idiosyncratic design, it was built for a game to be played and the stands to be filled. No day in sports possesses the excitement and hopefulness of baseball opening day. A baseball season does not simply begin; it is celebrated, from tiny, dusty, rural diamonds to Yankee Stadium. Unlike any other sport, the beginning of a new baseball season births a newness and hopefulness that this just may be the year for your favorite team (perhaps with the exception of Cubs fans). There is a sense, as Thomas Boswell has written, that time begins on Opening Day.

Resurrection Celebration

Resurrection Celebration is this Saturday April 7th from 11am to 1pm. This event is geared towards families and will includes four age-graded egg hunts, a hotdog lunch, and other family activities such as miniature golf, kite flying and several other fun activities. This is the perfect opportunity to invite friends and neighbors with children. You will not want to miss this fun event!
